Well folks, it has ended. After 3 months, and 5 or 6 days, the 2005 LARP Boys Cross Country season has ended. It was a historic year to say the least. The boys team made their first trip to state after winning a 3rd streight Three Rivers Conference Championship, and a 2nd place finish at sections. Out of 16 teams, the team finished 14th.
The season was quite a blur for the team, after coming out of the gate at Stewartville, they were quite happy with how the season had started. After the meets piled on, they started to think, maybe we can....
Bolstered by strong preformances from rookies Cord Sommers, Steve Pfyeron, and Steve Ahles, the team tore though conference by collecting 6 all-conference honors and winning their 3rd conference title in a row.
When sections came, everyone buckled down. Even though Cord became injured and his replacement Sam Sundermeyer was violently ill, "Beans" Wolter came though along with Steve Ahles and the team clinched their first ever state birth.
On his state experence, Senior Captain Jeremiah Feine was quoted saying, "My goal is to meet as many hot girls as I possibly can." Of course, Jeremiah never met this goal, but State was definately an experence that the team will never forget. Junior Sam Sundermeyer probably said it best, "Well I got next to last, but hey, I'd rather be the worst of the best than be the best of the worst."
